Blazer is a must-have in any man’s wardrobe. It can be paired with jeans and a T-shirt for a casual look or worn over dress pants for formal attire. You can also wear a blazer with a pair of dress shoes to complete the look. There are many different styles of blazers that you can choose from, including tailored and slim fit.
Despite the recent blazer renaissance (think J.Crew, Banana Republic), a lot of mall brands have been struggling with the concept. Most of these blazers suffer from some combination of details: stunted silhouettes that make you look like a used car salesman, overly long sleeves that will cost you a fortune to tailor, and the oh-so-frustrating “bleed this” coup de grC/ce – a working cuff button, which isn’t expensive for the manufacturer to design but it’s oh-so-expensive to finish.
That said, Goodfellow has had some success with their tee and short sleeve button-up blazers, and their navy blazers usually measure up pretty well. Their latest attempt combines the best features of their previous blazers: a slim fit that creates a streamlined, fitted silhouette that’s neither too loose nor too tight off the rack; a high-quality Italian wool that’s wrinkle resistant; and a nice touch of elastane that provides a stretchy, comfortable feel without looking like a gym suit.
It’s a bit pricey, but it’s one of the best blazers we’ve seen lately. You can wear it with a simple cotton pique shirt or over a sweater and button-down combo for a smart, relaxed business casual outfit, and you could even dress it up by slipping a button-down shirt and necktie under it.
